Craftsmanship
Two materials. Neither one hidden.
Everything is put together by hand in Downtown Alexandria. Six benches, four pairs of hands, and no machine that can feel a knot.
Craftsmanship
Two materials. Neither one hidden.
Downtown Alexandria. Six benches, four pairs of hands, and no machine that can feel a knot.
The cord
Braided wax polyester, bought by the spool from a braider who has spent sixty years making sailing line. We chose it for the reasons they did. It holds a knot under load, it does not stretch, and the wax keeps water out instead of drinking it in.
The silver
One piece per bracelet, formed by hand from 925 sterling. Small enough to sit lightly. Solid all the way through, so there is no plating to wear thin at the edges after a season.
The knot
Four wraps around the standing cord, drawn down and set. Tight enough to hold where you leave it, loose enough to move when you ask it to. A machine cannot feel that tension. A person can.
Finishing
The silver is polished and marked, then seated on the cord last, so the mark only ever goes into something already finished. The cord ends are sealed with heat. That is why they do not fray.
Materials
Four claims you can check yourself.
The cord
Braided wax polyester
Not leather, which cracks. Not rope, which frays. A marine braid that holds a knot under load and sheds water. It accounts for most of every bracelet we make.
The silver
Solid 925, never plated
One piece per bracelet, solid the whole way through. Plating wears off at the edges within a year. There is nothing here to wear off.
The mark
Struck, not printed
Every silver piece carries our maker's mark and the 925 standard mark. If it is not stamped, it did not come from us.
The cord again
Replaced free, for life
Cord is the part that eventually goes. We replace it whenever it does, at no cost, and set your silver on the new one. There is no expiry date on that.
Have it made to your measurements.
Choose the cord, the silver, the engraving and the exact wrist size. Made to order in Alexandria, ready in about a week.
